Why Prison Families Use Securus

If you have never used Securus before in your life, you are missing out on one of the best technologies that comes for prison families all around the world. Their multi-state campaign was recently launched to raise the awareness of the services that they are offering such as video visitation for prison families all across the country. My own experience using Securus has been great and it is why I continually recommended to a lot of individuals who might want to make use of this service as well.

Securus is a great company that truly takes pride in the work that they have done to raise the awareness of the technology that they offer to the public. This technology will enable you to keep in touch with your loved ones more easily without having to always worry about making trips to the prison just to be able to see that person. This can be costly and time effective when it comes to seeing your loved one on a regular basis and you might not even have the option available to you because of the fact that it is too difficult to do this.

It is very important for you to consider security as the company of your choosing when it comes to making the most of this option in your own life. It is easy to get to learn this amazing technology without having to constantly worry about anything else that happens to be available to you and why so many individuals use this service for themselves. The system is incredibly beneficial for prison families all over the country and my own experience with it has been nothing but positive because of the different options and services they offer to me and other people who need it.

Louisiana Inmates Granted Free Phone Calls From Securus Technologies

The flooding in Louisiana has had devastating impacts and affected people who have suffered both major and minor damages to their homes. But some people who haven’t been mentioned on the news, are inmates in Louisiana’s correctional facilities who have had families in the flood zones, and have been unable to help them. However, major corrections facility communication provider Securus Technologies is now doing its part to help inmates stay in close contact with loved ones during this time. For a week, all inmates in Louisiana will get one free call each day to make sure all loved ones are okay. In addition, Securus will be sending about $50,000 to the inmate welfare fund to provide other services during this time.

Securus Technologies has been a leading telecom provider for thousands of corrections facilities across the US, with over 1 million inmates and thousands of corrections officers as the beneficiaries of its service. It has primarily been the phone service provider, with options for prepay or direct billing that allows inmates to use prepaid cards, or families to have charges billed to their regular phone bills. Securus also supplies voice mail and instant mail, a product that works similarly to email that’s cut down on mailroom operating expenses. In addition, families can now visit incarcerated loved ones through Securus video visitation service, which allows inmates to talk face-to-face with their families and saves travel time.

Securus also has incident response and threat alert systems built into its infrastructure. Word patterns can be detected in mail and phone communications that Securus uses to notify appropriate personnel. Emergency response units will also be notified if Securus’ surveillance technology notices a dangerous incident that’s about to occur.

Securus Technologies Releases Its First in a Series of Wrong-Doing Claims by a Competitor

Securus Technologies, provider of civil and criminal justice technology products and services, is planning the release of several reports and articles discussing the wrong-doing of one of their major competitors, Global Tel Link(GTL). They just released the first in the series. Securus is releasing the reports in order to shame GTL into acting with a higher level of integrity.

Rick Smith, CEO of Securus says the he loves the industry of serving the needs of law enforcement, corrections and society. It angers him and other companies in the industry when a company stoops as low as GTL has. He claims that the industry is about more than just money, it is about serving the needs of the customers as well. Over the next six months, Securus will release different articles with the issues they have found.

First Claim

The first is a report by the Louisiana Public Service Commission (PSC). It claims that when GTL provided outbound telecom services to thousands of inmates, in the state, they added either 15 or 36 seconds to each call. This practice is completely unlawful.  They even added additional charges to phone bills after the calls had been rated. This too is unlawful. Because of these activities, Louisiana taxpayers were overcharged by $1,243,000.

Securus Technologies

This case was recorded over 18 years ago, however, Securus claims that these practices have continued to the present time. They will submit more reports shortly. Securus is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and provides technology services to over 3,450 law enforcement and correctional agencies.
